Farming, A New Inspiration for Young Indigenous Papuan Farmers

Sorong, Papua

Young Indigenous Papuan (OAP) farmers in Klaru, Mariat District, have successfully harvested Shinta variety mustard greens. The harvest was sold at approximately Rp15,000 per bundle. Inspired by this success, they are now even more motivated to grow vegetables.

With the support from YBTS, we as young farmers have learned that each crop not only teaches us about our potential but also about opportunities in agriculture.

Through the Knowledge Transfer program supported by the De Eik Foundation, young farmers have been trained in good agricultural practices and achieved a successful harvest of mustard greens.

Anjela, a young farmer from Bangka Jong, achieves success with the harvest of Bareto F1 tomatoes

Manggarai, Nusa Tenggara Timur

Anjela, a young farmer from Bangka Jong Village, successfully harvested 1.6 tons of Bareto F1 tomatoes from 1,200 plants that she cultivated. This harvest provided her with an income of up to Rp26,069,819, with the potential for increased earnings in the next harvest. Her fresh tomatoes were sold to YTEL Mart, local traders, and collectors in Labuan Bajo.

Thanks to the support from YBTS, I was able to optimize the potential of my land and harvest high-quality tomatoes. This demonstrates how important it is to have good technical knowledge to achieve success in vegetable farming.
